When you are here with us, we can collaborate on your order with all materials, supplies and expertise only an arm's length away.
Our artisans are located all over the Guatemalan Highlands in small villages. We will take you for a tour to experience their culture and work.
Antigua is the tourist center of Guatemala and offers fantastic food concepts, local tradition and architecture.
At From The Mayan, we always make sure to tailor our visits according to our clients’ wishes and needs. However, we also want to give you an idea of what you can expect when you decide to come and visit us. Below is a sample itinerary from previous visits we have had with happy customers.
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Antigua
Meet us at the airport and enjoy a scenic ride to Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Check in at Hotel la Galería, a cozy and elegant hotel near the central park. Relax and explore the city before joining us for a welcome dinner at 18:30.
Day 3: Panajachel and Artisans
Start your day early with a scenic drive to Panajachel, a charming town on the shores of Lake Atitlán. Have breakfast on route and enjoy the views of the lake and the volcanoes. Join our From The Mayan team for another artisans’ visit, where you will learn how to make bracelets and stress balls. These are fun and easy activities that you can take home as souvenirs. Visit the Mirador de San Juan La Laguna, a lookout point that offers stunning panoramas of the lake and the surrounding villages. Have lunch and dinner at local restaurants and savor the flavors of the region
Day 2: Artisans and Office
Experience the Mayan culture and craftsmanship with our From The Mayan team. Visit a local community of artisans and learn how to make worry dolls and ceramic. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a nearby restaurant. Meet the staff and learn about our work at the From The Mayan office. Return to your hotel.
Day 4: Nahualá, Chichicastenango, and Museo de las Máscaras
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel before departing for Nahualá and Chichicastenango, two towns that showcase the diversity and richness of the Mayan culture. With our From The Mayan team, you will visit another group of artisans who specialize in textile, ceramic, and wood. You will see how they use natural materials and traditional techniques to create colorful and intricate products. You will also have the chance to buy some of their creations as souvenirs. Visit the Museo de las Máscaras, a museum that displays a collection of masks used in religious ceremonies and dances. Learn about the history and symbolism of these masks and how they reflect the Mayan worldview. Have lunch at a local restaurant and taste some of the regional specialties. Return to your hotel in Antigua by the evening and bid farewell to your tour companions and guides.
